Acerca de la herramienta: Calculator

The BMI & Calorie Calculator computes your Body Mass Index (BMI = weight in kg / height in m²), classifies it into WHO categories (underweight, normal, overweight, obese), estimates your ideal weight range, and calculates daily calorie needs.

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is estimated using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation. Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is BMR multiplied by an activity factor (1.2 for sedentary up to 1.725 for very active).

BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnostic one. It does not differentiate between muscle and fat mass. Athletes may have a high BMI despite low body fat.

Preguntas Frecuentes (FAQ)

What is a healthy BMI range?

According to the WHO, a healthy (normal) BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9. Below 18.5 is underweight, 25–29.9 is overweight, and 30+ is obese.

What is the Mifflin-St Jeor equation?

For men: BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age − 161 + 166. For women: BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age − 161. It's considered the most accurate BMR formula for most adults.

Is BMI accurate for everyone?

BMI is a population-level screening tool. It may overestimate body fat in muscular individuals and underestimate it in older adults with low muscle mass. Consult a healthcare provider for a complete assessment.
